Connecting Sony ILCE-7CM2 (a7C II) to the Intervalometer App

Step-by-step instructions for pairing your Sony ILCE-7CM2 (a7C II) with the Intervalometer for Sony app over Bluetooth Rmt Ctrl.

Before you start

Install Intervalometer for Sony from the App Store or Google Play.
When the app first starts, allow Bluetooth access so it can discover your camera.
Allow location / local network permissions when prompted. On many phones these are required to scan for nearby Bluetooth devices; the app does not use your location for tracking.
On the camera, set MENU → (Network) → [Airplane Mode] → [Off].
Close Creators’ App remote / transfer sessions if they are running so they do not hold the Bluetooth link. Official Help Guide for this body does not list location linkage as mutually exclusive with Bluetooth Rmt Ctrl (unlike older α bodies).
Do not pair the a7C II from the phone’s system Bluetooth menu alone — start pairing on the camera, then complete it in Intervalometer for Sony.
Use [Bluetooth Rmt Ctrl] only. Do not use [Smartphone Connection] / Smartphone Connect / Creators’ App Smartphone Connection (those are Wi‑Fi or app-specific flows).

Pair the a7C II with the Intervalometer app

Open the Bluetooth menu.
Press MENU and go to (Network) → [Bluetooth].
Enable Bluetooth Function.
Inside [Bluetooth], select [Bluetooth Function] → [On].
Enable Bluetooth remote control.
Still under [Bluetooth], set [Bluetooth Rmt Ctrl] → [On]. Do not use [Cnct./PC Remote] → [Smartphone Connection] (Creators’ App). If no device is paired yet, pairing may start automatically.
Open Pairing on the camera.
Go to (Network) → [Bluetooth] → [Pairing]. The camera waits for a Bluetooth remote commander.
Open Intervalometer for Sony on your phone.
Unlock your phone and start the Intervalometer for Sony app. Do not start pairing from the phone’s system Bluetooth settings alone.
Tap "Add new camera" in the app.
In the main control screen, tap Add new camera (or the equivalent add/scan control). The app scans for nearby Bluetooth devices.
Select your ILCE-7CM2 (a7C II) from the list.
When your camera appears, tap the entry that matches your a7C II to start pairing.
Confirm Bluetooth pairing on the phone.
Your phone may show a Bluetooth pairing request. Confirm it so Intervalometer for Sony can connect.
Confirm pairing on the camera.
When the camera shows a Bluetooth connection confirmation, select [OK].
Start using the Intervalometer app.
Pairing is complete. Your a7C II is listed as the active camera in Intervalometer for Sony, and the main control screen can trigger the shutter over Bluetooth.

After pairing

Once the connection is established, you can start and stop exposures from your phone without touching the camera.

Keep [Bluetooth Rmt Ctrl] → [On] while shooting. Later reconnects usually do not need a full re-pair.
Power-save is disabled while Bluetooth Rmt Ctrl is On — set [Bluetooth Rmt Ctrl] → [Off] when you finish to save battery.
Set exposure time and interval directly in the app.
Use BULB mode on the camera (where supported) and let the app control how long each exposure runs.
Run an open-ended sequence or stop automatically after a chosen number of images.
Stay within a few metres of the camera for a stable BLE link.

Cancel pairing and start again

If you change phones or run into connection problems, delete the existing pairing and set it up again.

On the a7C II

Press MENU and go to (Network) → [Bluetooth] → [Manage Paired Device].
Select the phone / app entry you no longer want and delete it.
If that fails, use [Reset Network Set.] as a fallback.

On the smartphone

Open your phone's Bluetooth settings and forget / remove the a7C II entry.
In Intervalometer for Sony, remove the camera if it is still listed.

After clearing the pairing on both sides, follow the pairing steps above again from the beginning.

Troubleshooting

Phone cannot find the camera

Airplane Mode must be [Off]; [Bluetooth Function] and [Bluetooth Rmt Ctrl] must be [On]; leave the camera on the Pairing screen.
Check that Bluetooth is enabled on your smartphone and that Intervalometer for Sony has Bluetooth (and location/local network) permission.
Make sure you are not using [Smartphone Connection] / Creators’ App Smartphone Connection by mistake.
If the camera still does not appear, cancel pairing on both sides, restart both devices, and try again.

Paired but the shutter does nothing

[Bluetooth Rmt Ctrl] must remain [On] while shooting. Only one Bluetooth remote commander can be active at a time.
Close Imaging Edge Mobile / Creators’ App completely so they do not hold the BLE link.

Intervalometer app does not connect, but something looks paired

Forget the camera in the phone’s system Bluetooth list and remove it inside the app, then re-pair from the camera Pairing screen.
On the camera, clear pairings via [Bluetooth] → [Manage Paired Device] (or [Reset Network Set.]).

Unstable link or short range

Stay within a few metres; avoid metal / bodies between phone and camera; reduce heavy 2.4 GHz Wi‑Fi interference nearby.

Want GPS geotagging instead

Use Creators’ App → [Setup] → [Location Information Linkage]. This body’s Help Guide does not require turning Bluetooth Rmt Ctrl Off for location. If linkage fails, set Airplane Mode [Off] and keep within the camera’s simultaneous Bluetooth device limit.
